Additional improvement with lasik enhancement

 Many people think once they have lasik surgery their vision problems will go away forever.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case.  According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology or AAO, 5.8% of the 835,000 people who had lasik in 2001 will need lasik enhancement or re-treatment to correct error or complications.  Lasik enhancement is basically an additional procedure done to improve vision.

Most people who are candidates for lasik enhancement are those who are unsatified with their current vision levels and have the potential for improvement with an additional procedure.  It is important for surgeons to review patient expectation levels so that they are not disappointed if they have a second procedure and their vision is not 20/20.

Also, if you are considering lasik enhancement, make sure the surgeon covers off all the potential risks and possible complications.  You want to be fully informed prior to re-treatment versus after.  Also remember, laser may not be the best choice for you.  We recommend that your explore all your options before settling on lasik surgery.
